UCHS COMMUNITY CENTER
As a 10 person group, our team created a master plan for the former University City High School Site. Our goals were to revitalize the West Powelton neighborhood by providing specialized community functions (ex. library, grocery store daycare and community center), self sustainable solutions (ex. centralized HVAC system for the entire site), public outdoor spaces and attractive retail.
Zooming into the community center, the limited 15,000 square foot ground coverage provided a design opportunity. In order to accomodate various functions, thespaces are transformable. The building is divided into two main parts, the core and a transformable space that are connected by a wide circulation corridor.
